Patrick Gale
Food and Environmental Educator, MA Candidate
UVic, EMCS
I currently teach Foods and Sciences at a rural community school (grades 9-12) in Sooke, BC. My programs focus on Sustainability through local healthy food systems. We partner with local farmers, tend a school garden, greenhouse, and orchard, and mentor younger students in the Nature Kindergarten program.
I am also working towards my MA in Curriculum Leadership at UVic. My research will be focused on growing teacher ecoliteracy through collaborative inquiry. I have helped create and am highly involved in our school district Farm to School / School Garden team, which is developing strategies and supports for all of our schools.
Before moving to Sooke, I spent 5 years living and teaching in the Arctic, where I created an award winning foods program, including gardening and traditional Indigenous food knowledge.
