Get out of the city and visit two small farms making big waves in sustainable food. Le Noyau is a 1-acre seed farm run by Teprine Baldo, growing organic crops and using traditional agroecological seedsaving practices and Indigenous techniques taught to her from her friend and mentor Stephen McComber. Come and learn how the seed saving and cleaning process works, then have a vegetarian lunch on the beautiful property. The tour continues to Les Jardins de la Grelinette, the 1-acre co-founded by by Maude-Hélène Desroches & Jean-Martin Fortier in 2004 and since 2015 run by Maude-Hélène and her team of dedicated farmers. This organic farm using biointensive agriculture has made headlines for their model of market gardening using low-tech yet still achieving a high yield and being profitable. You will be taking a tour of the farm and Maude-Hélène will describe some of their gardening and greenhouse techniques.
*The tour will take place at the farms but departure is from Concordia. Meet at Assembly registration, MB Atrium.
