Food organizations working with low-income communities are well-positioned to catalyze personal and systemic change — be it by offering healthy food, creating leadership opportunities, supporting political activism, or developing programs that help people eat well within their means. Rooted in health, empowerment, and social justice, Community Food Centres Canada’s “Good Food Principles” articulate a philosophy and tangible actions that can support organizations striving toward such change. In this session two organizations will share how they’ve used the principles to adopt a new strategic direction and evolve their policies and practices accordingly.
