Lori Stahlbrand works for the City of Toronto, where she is responsible for the Toronto Food Policy Council -- one of the leading food policy councils in the world -- and a member of Toronto's Food Strategy team. She is also an Adjunct Professor in Equity Studies at New College, University of Toronto. Prior to joining the City of Toronto, Lori was a lecturer and coordinator of the Global Food Equity Initiative at New College. Lori has a PhD in Geography, with a research focus on public sector food procurement as a tool for developing just and sustainable food systems. As the founder of the non-profit Local Food Plus, Lori promoted local and sustainable food procurement as a tool for social and economic development. Prior to engaging with food issues, Lori spent 15 years as a nationally-recognized journalist and broadcaster with CBC Radio.
