Ray is the Executive Director of the Inuvik Community Greenhouse - an 18000 square foot community garden located in an old hockey arena 200 km north of the Arctic Circle. The greenhouse promotes "community through gardening" and Ray expanded that idea into encouraging her local government to not fund just workshops in communities - but jobs and education of people in the small Beaufort Delta communities of Aklavik, Tsiigehchic, Fort McPherson, Tuktoyaktuk, Paulatuk, Ulukhaktok and Sachs Harbour. Since 2015, greenhouses have been started in each of those communities, and for 2 summers people have been hired to work in them to encourage people to grow food that makes sense with their own traditional diets.  She is excited to expand the pilot program to more communities in the NWT and perhaps the rest of Canada.
