Carly Hayes is the Research and Education Lead for the Food Secure Canada Youth Caucus. She works on developing resources to educate and empower youth to get involved in the food movement and act for positive change in the food system in Canada. She is based in Ottawa and works for the International Development Research Centre in the livestock health program, which funds research on new vaccines and medicines to reduce the burden of disease in farming systems in low and middle-income countries. In the past, her research has focused on taking a holistic approach to malnutrition in food policy, how mega-mergers in agribusiness can threaten food security, and the intersection of trade policy and healthy diets.
