Ilham Saydna is a food researcher based in Toronto, Canada. For more than 20 years, she built strong theoretical knowledge
and practical experience working alongside farming communities in Sudan and Yemen. Trained in agricultural science and women in development, she contributed to strengthening the local indigenous systems to adapt to climate change and capitalist market penetration. While in Canada, Ilham researched the displacement of small farmers and documented their stories. Using popular education practices, she works with groups of women and refugees in Toronto to develop strategies to deal with barriers associated with the internalization of oppressive encounters.
