Founded in 1892 as a homeless shelter, the services at Welcome Hall Mission have since broadened to include the largest direct-to-public food bank in the city, and now Montréal’s first free grocery store, Marché Bon Accueil. With a vision of a transformed city where everyone has access to healthy food, the Mission serves over 3,000 Montrealers a week and over 75% of the food offered is perishable, including meat, dairy products and fresh fruit and vegetables.
Participants will tour the Marché and get a behind-the-scenes look at some of the logistics involved in bringing dignity and hope to food assistance.
*The tour will take place at the Mission (4755 Acorn) but departure is from Concordia. Meet at Assembly registration, MB Atrium.
