Food Policy 101

In this session community leaders, and researchers will share their experiences and insights about what drives food policy change, and why policy matters. The discussion will focus on efforts to move from place-based actions and initiatives to changing food systems structures at various levels of governance, with an emphasis on the importance of a truly ‘joined-up’ national food policy framework. This session will serve as an introduction to the basics on food policy from a variety of practitioners’ perspectives: What are the basics of food policy and why do we need one? What are silos, and why do we need to work across them? Contradictions? How do we influence and develop food policy?
