Transforming our food ecosystem first requires understanding them in what makes it unique. The first step is an assessment of the actual situation in the territory concerned. This analysis must reflect the territory's resources, its challenges, but also its actors and the dynamic relationships that bind them. Several approaches stand out that aim to frame this complexity to produce a useful portrait for the actors of that territory to understand the broader ecosystem in which they exist: "Community food security assessment", ecosystem mapping, asset mapping are all approaches to helping actors situate themselves, and their desired impact, in a broader ecosystem. This workshop proposed by the strategic group initiated by the Montreal Foundation aims to create a community of practice. It will allow us to discuss our experiences in implementing this type of tool, in order to draw lessons that will benefit all communities wishing to mobilize them.
