With a combination of civil unrest, war, and climate change, our generation is seeing an unprecedented number of refugees. As newcomers remake a home in Canada, food has an immense potential to bridges between Canadians and their new neighbours. What are the challenges faced by newcomers, and how have projects at different levels help to ease the transition? Join us for this panel with Mustafa Koç, co-founder of Food Secure Canada and currently a researcher on the sociology of food and immigration at Ryerson University. He will be moderating this panel with Jill McDowell from the Toronto Food Strategy and Sureya Ibrahim at the Regent Park Catering Collective, who both work to train refugee and immigrant women in food service skills.
